Today is Valentines Day. If you’re single you might be thinking, so what? Do I really need a day to remind me that I’m single? Love, like life, is all about attitude. So rather than see the negatives, today we’re going to focus on the positives.

After all if Valentines Day is all about love, then you just need to focus on the “Loves” that are currently in your life.

1. Love Your Self: Today is a day to show yourself a little love. You don’t need a significant other to treat you self to a little spa time. Maybe today is a good day to play hooky and sleep in, visit an art museum or go see a movie. Whatever makes you happy today is the day to make it happen.

2. Love Your Family: Today could be a great day to spend some quality time visiting your parents or sibling. Spend some time reconnecting with those near and dear to your heart.

3. Love Your Friends: Sure your friends in relationships might not be available, but most of us have a few friends who are single today. Help make their day special by sharing a meal, drinks and desert, and some conversation. Today is a day for positive conversations so keep the moaning about being single for another today. Today is about the relationships you do have.

4. Love Something New: Today you’re going to try something new. If you’ve thought about starting a new workout class today is your day to sign up. If you’ve always wanted to take a pottery class or dance lessons, today is the day you make it happen. Maybe its a new restaurant you’ve been wanting to try. Its your day of discovery and you can make it happen.

5. Love to Meet People: While you may be single at this moment, there are still hours left in this day, days in this week, and months in the year. If your goal is o not be single on Valentines Day 2013 then you have to get out and meet people. We’d like to help you.

Since 1998 we’ve introduced over 30,000 singles in Atlanta and we can help you. To kick off the count down to Valentines Day 2013 we’ve created a special offer: Save 50% on a Trial membership in out Atlanta Matchmaking program. All you need to do is go to Facebook and Like the Single Atlanta page. ( http://www.facebook.com/singleatl )

Our service is not an online computer dating service, but rather we make hand-selected matches only after we’ve met each potential match in person.

Today is Valentines Day and its all about love, but that doesn’t mean if you’re single you have to be excluded. Its your day too, so reach out and grab it.

Remember the old pick-up line, “What’s your sign?”? Well, for those of us who are astrologers, and earn our living reading birth charts and forecasts, it’s no line. Your Sun sign tells so much about you—and those with whom you are compatible. However, there is more to your birth chart than your Sun sign, which is why I need the exact time you were born, as well as the month, day, year, and city. If you’ve ever had your birth chart read, you know that the accuracy of the birth time determines the accuracy of the chart.

Traditionally, while certain signs are compatible and others are not, if you are interested in someone, you will want to find out if your Venus (love, beauty) makes a harmonious aspect to their Mars (passion, sex), or Sun (ego, creative energy), or Moon (emotions, subconscious), or ascendant (the most personal point in the chart). Without that spark, nothing romantic will happen. There can be other harmonious aspects, but if it is romance you seek, there must be what I call a “click”. You know what I’m talking about!

A chart comparison is an incredible tool to find out your compatibility with someone. For this, you will need accurate birth data on both of you. Then, just sit back and be blown away!

Incidentally, Lisa and Leisha are born under the sign Cancer, a naturally nurturing, caring, intuitive sign. Isn’t that perfect for two matchmakers?

Beluga Martini Bar in Buckhead is a cigar friendly martini bar featuring live music six nights a week.

We’ve been featuring some of our favorite resteraunts …Pasta Da Pucinella, Old Vinings Inn, Flip Burger Boutique … recently and decided to change things up this week. This weeks Date Spot moves from food to drinks and music with our selection of Beluga Martini Bar.

Beluga Martini Bar isn’t shy about claiming to serve Atlanta’s best martini, with nearly 20 variations offered. They also feature a robust selection of premium bourbons and whiskeys, scotches, wine and beers. Whatever cold drink your taste buds crave you’ll find it here.

While the martini and cigar craze seems to have settled down to some extent you’ll find it alive and well here. Beluga is a cigar friendly bar allowing you to sit back and enjoy your stogie while enjoying the drinks and music served up Monday through Saturday. And did we mention the dancing.

The crowd tends to lean a little bit older than your average Buckhead night spot, with a 30 plus crowd. The dress code is a little more upscale so leave the jeans and flip flops at home and dress to impress.

The Beluga Martini Bar is located at 3115 Piedmont Rd NE in Buckhead.

How do you really know who to listen to, or when you’ve reached your harmony? A look at compatibility in the 21st century.

When we sit down and think about the term “compatibility”, we seem to almost always associate it with a description of relationships, whether human, technological, or inanimate; although, the definition itself stands out to me as the perfect envelopment of the word: “the capability of existing or living together in harmony”. So many of us are overwhelmed by advice or suggestions from uninvolved parties about our dating lives, how do you really know who to listen to, or when you’ve reached your harmony?

First, when in doubt, go with your gut. There’s a difference between giving someone the benefit of the doubt, and going with what your instinct is telling you. Sometimes certain peoples’ personalities don’t mesh well with one another, and that’s okay! Every person you meet, converse with, or date is exciting because you’re gaining experience in the most important aspect of compatibility: COMMUNICATION.

Okay, so let’s say you’ve gone with your gut, and you’ve met a wonderful man or woman, but there are still some red flags you’re a bit apprehensive about; don’t give up yet! What most people don’t realize is that there are many facets to compatibility. It isn’t just a black or a white area, but is mostly comprised of beautiful grays, which we in the dating industry call compromise! For instance, you meet someone you have a lot in common with personality-wise, but their personal choice of wardrobe is a little different than your taste in style; look at it from a positive light and not as a deal breaker, and make the suggestion through getting him or her something you’d love to see them in (keeping it tasteful, of course). Now, I’m not suggesting that you try and change them completely, because we all honestly know that never works out for anyone’s benefit, but certain things that are thought to be incompatibilities are sometimes just a superficial distraction from really getting to know someone potentially wonderful for you.

Second, what are considered potential deal breakers anyways? Sometimes the most mundane things can give way to incompatibility, but they don’t always apply to everyone’s relationship. Some people can successfully write off their significant others’ quirks or differences, referencing the popular phrase of “opposites attract!”, but most of the time we focus on finding someone who will actually complement our personalities and lifestyles. There are generically important things people can disagree on such as religion, and politics, yet still have a successful relationship, but when it comes to having a thriving future, the focus needs to be on whether or not you have the same thoughts on life goals, family, commitment, and/or values.

Although it seems easy to sum up “compatibility” in a couple of paragraphs, the sky’s the limit on personal experiences relating to or contradicting the normal known idea of happiness and harmony, but when it all boils down to connection, and compromise, listen to your heart and your head, and deep down you’ll know which fish is a keeper, and which fish are better thrown back for another fisherman’s delight.

The wonderful thing about Atlanta’s culture is that there is a little something out there to cater to anyone’s indulgences. Flip Burger Boutique is our Atlanta Date Spot pick of the week because it mixes old time favorites, with a neo-American flare.

Upon walking into your pick of the 3 locations they offer, you’ll feel ultra modern and chic as you sit down to enjoy the city’s fanciest burgers, fries, and shakes. The atmosphere is perfect for a first date, whether you try it out at lunchtime or take it later into the evening this affordably priced menu of delicacies. Worried that you or your date’s new diet will be affected by the menu options? Think again!

Flip Burger offers a variety of choices from vegetarian to vegan, and, if you’re feeling more exotic, has your choice of different kinds of meat. The restaurant isn’t just known for the wonderful variety of burgers it offers, but also has a list of gourmet sides that will win the heart of anyone who has functional taste buds…and of course, don’t forget to make it a perfect night and wash everything down with a burnt marshmallow and Nutella shake! (sharing optional)

When it comes to dating we all make up excuses as to “why we’re not ready yet.” Tips to motivate you to take control of your happiness.

Let’s face it, when it comes to dating we all make up excuses as to “why we’re not ready yet.” Whether it’s because you were recently burned, want to shed a few extra pounds, or to make sure your current work project is in order, there are 1,001 different excuses we can make to psyche ourselves out from dating.

So, what’s the underlying secret to those who bounce back so fast? Give yourself some attention first! When we get caught up in the daily grind of life, we tend to neglect the importance of pursuing self gratification along with trying to please others, and in forgetting this, it passively takes control of your self confidence and hinders you from moving on to something (or someone!) else who could potentially make you happy. The following are just a few tips on how to get you motivated to get back out there, and take control of your happiness:

Before you jump back into taking another person on a date, take yourself out on one (of 5!) first. There’s no shame in giving yourself a little “me-time” and rediscovering what makes you unique, and such a catch. Going out solo can also give you more confidence in being independent, therefore making you a much more attractive prospect!

It’s definitely a good idea to keep healthy and exercise, but don’t do it with goals in mind of impressing someone else…do it for yourself! Generally the hardest thing about keeping a good fitness routine is just that: actually KEEPING it. You’re more likely to succeed if you do things for yourself, rather than relying on the thoughts of others. Just think, you’ll never let yourself down as long as you know you’re doing your best!

Change it up—but just a little! Sometimes the best way to feel like a brand new you, is to update your physical appearance a tad, so treat yourself to a mani/pedi, go get a fabulous new hair-do, or find some stylish but affordable new “kicks” that will be sure to make you feel confident when you decide to plunge back in to the dating world.

The best part about taking time to “date yourself”, is that you really focus on both sides of the “relationship”. Many people get so caught up in the act of infatuation with their relationship, that they lose sight of what makes them personally happy. When you take the time to adopt both roles, it’s easier to pinpoint what you expect and don’t want from a relationship, therefore making communication closer to a walk in the park, instead of like pulling teeth.

There are many more creative ways you can “win yourself over”; anything you’d normally expect out of your significant other, do for yourself! It won’t be long before you notice progress in self confidence, and wanting to show off just how wonderful you really are—and just maybe, you’ll finally be ready to lay the excuses to the side, and step back up to the plate of the dating game!

The Old Vinings Inn is set in a 150 year old former Inn and Tavern located on Paces Mill Road just inside the Perimiter. There are several rooms available dining from the main dining room, the Bear room, the Wine room, the Garden room, and of course our favorite weather permitting, the Patio. Regardless of where you sit you’ll find it a great place to eat drink, and get to know your date a little better.

The menu has enough variety that both you and your date will have no trouble finding an enticing meal. You can go simple with a burger or sandwich, a little more upscale with a Salmon or a Steak, and of course a good selection of salads and appetizers. Some of our favorite meals include the BBQ shrimp and grits, the crab cake and the Bacon Blue Burger.

The Attic Bar, located upstairs, offers a full spectrum of hand-crafted of beers from around the world, wallet friendly wine list and classic cocktail menu to pair with a newly revised menu that is both tasty and reasonably priced. The Attic Bar regularly hosts some of Atlanta’s favorite home town bands and features live music every Wednesday through Saturday evenings in the Attic Bar.

Featuring music on Wednesday night through Saturday night you’ll find local favorites such as Kurt Thomas, Fransico Vidal, Jef Hix, and Critty Upchurch. Its a cozy space allowing you a front seat view from almost any spot in the bar. The cover charge is waived for guests dining with us at the Inn.

The Old Vinings Inn is located at 3011 Paces Mill Road, Atlanta, GA 30339. For more information visit their website where you can view their menu, make a reservation and see who’s playing next in the Attic Bar.

Looking for a new and exciting way to do something new and interactive on your next date? Get out of your “dinner and a movie” rut and plan a get physical date. Here are four activities that most of us usually don’t think about when we plan to exercise that would also make a really fun date if done together. These ideas are all local and ideal for an upcoming weekend.

Do the Silver Comet Trail

Get outside and enjoy the crisp, cool air and beautiful fall colors. The Silver Comet Trail is is a unique outside the perimeter Atlanta spot to walk, run, bike or rollerblade. The path is a quiet, paved, non-motorized trail and dogs are welcome. The 61 mile long trail starts in Smyrna (Cobb county) and ends at the Georgia/Alabama state line. At mile marker 0, the Mavell Road Trailhead is where to start. Take 1-285 to exit 15 South Cobb Drive and travel north two miles (Go to silvercometga.com for a map). It has nice restrooms, paved parking, picnic tables, water, emergency phone and dog waste bags. It’s a good idea to wear comfortable shoes, bring a big water bottle and your cell phone. The trail bikers move fast so stay to the right and allow them to pass you. Keep the dog on a leash and be cautious at road crossings. This is a destination that gives you fitness level diversity. You’ll want to come back to throughout the year to see the scenery changes each season.

Indoor Rock Climbing

A physically fit, adventure seeking couple would enjoy the challenge of testing the roles of “climber” and “belayer”. As the climber climbs, the belayer takes the slack out of the rope so that if the climber slips or falls, the belayer can arrest the fall at that spot. Lots of opportunity to build trust with each other as you challenge your own strengh and mind. As you advance, try bouldering, climbing without a rope. The climber goes up about 15 feet then safely jumps or climbs down. Atlanta Rocks and Stone Summit are both located inside the perimeter and offer first timers introduction and technique classes.

Outdoor Ice Skating

Park Tavern at Piedmont Park is our top date night pick for ice skating. The lodgelike atmosphere at Park Tavern is the perfect setting to enjoy the combination of ice skating and dessert. Opening next week, the 3,200 foot ice rink will be located in the restaurant’s heated Garden Tent with LED lighting and state-of-the art sound system and skate rentals. The rink is one of the largest in town, comfortably accommodating 150 people. The restaurant will be serving rinkside speciality drinks such as a Frozen Valhrona Hot Chocolate with the flavor profile of hot chocolate and the consistency of a milkshake. Traditional hot chocolate and themed martinis will also be served.

Bowling

Less physical activity and more recreational, bowling is a fun date because it’s a brainless way to unwind together. Atlanta bowling options are brightly lite, smoke-free facilities with spectacular light shows and full service bars. Comfortable lane side seating gives each couple their own space to enjoy some low key competition.

Going out to eat or catching a cup of coffee are always great dates to get to know each other better. Sometimes, though, its better to share an experience.

This week's date spot is Pasta Da Pulcinella in Midtown, one of our favorite Italian restaurants in Atlanta.

This week’s date spot recommendation is Pasta Da Pulcinella in Midtown. When you arrive at the small, yellow bungalow surrounded by wide leafy trees, you’ll see it filled with intimate lighting, hardwood floors and the original fireplace. It’ll feel more like your going to a dinner party at someone’s home than out to eat. Situated off the beaten path on Peachtree Walk between 12th and 13th streets, the restaurant’s cozy wooden tables and white cloth table covers will be a welcome sight from the city’s concrete and skyscrapers.

The staff is very friendly and rather laid back, which is done intentionally to make you feel at home. Serving lunch and dinner, the kitchen is known for its fresh, reasonably priced pasta dishes that are made from scratch and are beautifully presented with a surprising and innovative combination of flavors in each concoction.

There is a satisfying lunch menu of tagliatelle, stuffed ravioli, salad and sandwiches. Daily features are likely to include chicken, fish and beef. The most popular house favorite is tortelli di mele — plump round pasta filled with sweet Italian sausage, browned Granny Smith apples, and Parmesan, then topped with browned butter and sage. This dish is packed full of flavor and will have you wanting more and more. Also recommend the Lobster Ravioli — ravioli stuffed with lobster and cheese in a Champagne cream sauce topped with basil and diced tomatoes.

Overall, this is one of the best Italian restaurant in Atlanta and yet it still feels like a bit of a secret spot. An intimate and romantic atmosphere that is as close as it gets to the real thing, we think you’re date at Pasta Da Pulcinella will be a memorable one.

Here come the holidays…is your relationship ready to make it through to the new year? As your Atlanta Matchmaking experts we’d like to share some tips to consider while dating in Atlanta in your search for the right person.

Thinking thru these points will prepare you for all that the holidays have in store!

Giving an Appropriate Gift

Pay attention in your conversations and activities for gift giving ideas.

Don’t go overboard. Inexpensive but not cheap for casual daters. The amount to be spent is based on the financial health of the gifter.

If the relationship is moving toward serious, go for the sentimental value tying it to a special date, place or event that the two of you share.

If the holidays will include an invitation to an event with a gift exchange, purchase two gifts – one for you and one for your date. Don’t put the burden on your date to figure out what your group typically brings.

Party with Perspective

Office, neighborhood, club, association – Between the two of you, that could be way too many parties! New couples should not feel obligated to invite their date to every party they are attending this holiday season. Face it, they may support your “inner musician” but may not want to go to your weekend basement band jam holiday party! Be selective, choosing the events that they will most likely have something in common with the other party goers.

The Family Circus

Planes, trains and automobiles: If the event is nearby, a new couple could have fun with a day together debuting their new “couple” status. However, if the complexity of travel and accommodations would add stress to a too new relationship, wait for a more casual family gathering in the future.

At yours or mine? If you two are ready to plan a “meet the family” itinerancy, you’ll want to decide if you are going to one or both family events; what the accommodations will be; plan time away from the family and show off your hometown with a “walk down memory lane”.

What is your family likely to say? If Mom still tears up at the thought of your ex, it may not be a comfortable situation for your date. Any family quirks are best left to be discovered when the relationship is more solid. Consider if the event will be a small, quiet one giving your family the opportunity to get know your date. Large multi-generational gatherings would be fun for the socially outgoing and a duty for the reserved.

Traditions or Bad Habits

If this is a newer relationship, decide now that the holidays are a huge opportunity to learn about the person you’ve chosen to date. Observing how, where and when they celebrate will tell you more than a conversation about the subject will. Is being with their family a priority or is a phone call all they need? How do they handle their gift giving – over the top with credit card hangover or time invested in finding that one something special? Do they participate in a religious observation? Be open to discovering a new way or even better, create a new tradition for yourselves!

Slow down and sip the hot chocolate

The goal here is the opposite of jammed pack schedules, last minute dashes, and eating too much pie. If left unplanned your holidays will be over and not one drop of hot chocolate by the fireside will have been enjoyed. Together, pick a few days over the holidays to really slow down and be in quiet peacefulness with each other. Whatever that is for you, seek it and rejuvenate with your special one. Because when it is over, those moments will be what you remember next summer!

Now that you know what to talk about in advance of the holidays, you’ll be prepared to keep stress low and enjoy!
